American franchise exhibitors will be presented on the web catalogue "FrAmchise Day 09" one month prior to and two months after the event. Information on all exhibitors's brands will be published in a local magazine targeted at enterprises.

Last but not least, you will have a chance to visit historical Prague. You can explore the city individually, as the Hilton Prague Old Town hotel is centrally located in the heart of Prague at the gates of the Old Town and within walking distance of beautiful historical attractions such as Prague Castle, Wenceslaw Square, the Jewish Quarter or Charles Bridge. If you prefer an organized tour, you can use our offer and book in advance some walking tours through historical Prague with an English speaking guide.


Who Can you Meet?

At FrAMchise Day 09 you will meet prospective franchisees - those who do not know much about franchising yet and would like to make sure they are on the right path, as well as those familiar with franchising who are searching attractive franchising concepts.

You will also meet Franchise Consultants and Franchise Attorneys, who can provide you with valuable information. You will also meet bankers, advertising executives, real estate agents, and business developers.

During the conference and the evening reception, you can meet with members of local Chambers of Commerce and professional organizations, representatives of public administration and municipalities, and journalists who write about franchising.

You will also meet with other U.S. franchisors seeking new partners and investors for their brands.


Franchising in the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic provides excellent opportunities for U.S. franchisors interested in expanding abroad. The Czech Republic is committed to a free market and maintains a generally open economy, with few barriers to trade and investment. Membership in the European Union means that tariffs and standards, as well as most procedures, must conform to EU norms.

There are currently more than 150 franchised brands operating in the Czech Republic. Until recently, Czech concepts dominated the market, which changed recently with a strong influx of foreign franchising concepts in the last two years. Compared to the U.S., many industry sectors lack a franchising concepts presence. Fast food establishments are very popular and lately, the real estate sector has also seen rapid growth.

From a legal perspective, the Czech legal system is open and places no barriers for entrance and operation of a franchise. The franchise agreement as such is not specifically regulated under Czech law. Rather, it is a so-called "unspecified type of contract" between two entities that is regulated by the Commercial Code. The European Franchising Code of Ethics is respected. Franchisors do not have to compile Franchise Disclosure Documents. Knowledge of franchising within the local business community has been gradually increasing.

Services for the Exhibitors

Basic services "STANDARD"
Organizer provides STANDARD Package to all exhibitors.
STANDARD package includes:

  • lease of exhibition area and booth sized 2 x 2 meters (exhibition system "Orbit") 2.5m height, light grey walls
  • construction and demolition of the booth
  • company logo on the booth back wall size 2000 x 1000 mm
  • one table and three chairs
  • electrical connection 220V/50Hz
  • listing company logo on the exhibitors list
  • exhibitors' brands will be presented on the LIST OF EXHIBITORS on the web "FrAmchise Day 09" one month prior to and two months after the event
  • publishing company logo on the exhibitors list in a local magazine targeted at enterprises
  • free entry for two persons of the exhibitor to conference "FrAmchise Day 09"
  • list of preregistered prospective franchisees
  • special discounted hotel rates through Hilton Prague Old Town or Hilton Prague
  • the first ten registered exhibitors will have an opportunity to give short multimedia presentations at the conference.

The Organizer provides all exhibitors a STANDARD Package worth CZK15,900 ($890) (plus 19% VAT). Franchise Club Prague members are entitled to 10% reduction.

Additional services
Any other services, such as rent of additional exhibiting equipment, furniture, advertising, graphics, or floral decoration can be ordered through a form ORDER & PRICE LIST of Additional Services, which will be sent to you upon request too.

Opportunities for U.S. franchisors who will not attend the FrAMchise Day but want to be visible at the show:


FrAMchiseDay Center Booth

Exhibiting your brand and marketing materials at the FrAMchise Center Booth. The organizer will operate a FrAMchise Center Booth at a central location in the exhibition space staffed with a local English speaking hostess. Your company can send us up to 10kg of marketing materials (flyers, brochures, etc.), which will be put on table or rack at this booth. We will also send you a Contact List of all the visitors that express interest in your brand during the show with their contact information.

Useful Information on Czech Republic

Time zone The Czech Republic lies in the GMT +1 time zone, usually referred to as Central European Time (CET). The clocks are changed by one hour creating winter time and summer time (GTM + 2).

Climate Geographically speaking, the Czech Republic is situated in a temperate zone, and there are four seasons of approximately all the same length. Winters are relatively mild (the average January temperature is -2 °C, 28,4 °F) and summers are not too hot (the average July temperature is 20 °C, 68 °F), so you can travel to the Czech Republic at any time without being too concerned about the weather.

Electricity Electricity AC in the Czech Republic is 230 volts. Neither current nor plug sizes are the same around the world. If you discover on arrival that an electrical device has a different plug to those used in this country, adapters are readily available.

Healthcare Private and state healthcare facilities operate in the Czech Republic. The majority of them have agreements with the State Health Insurance Company on the provision and payment of healthcare.

Health insurance Since mid 2004 citizens from the individual EU member states, who travel temporarily to another EU member state and hold a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), are automatically insured.

Important telephone numbers The most important emergency services have three-digit numbers which you should have with you at all times in case you should need them. These numbers can be called free of charge from mobiles even without a SIM card inserted.

Embassies and consulates You can access assistance in difficult situations from your country's embassy. Embassies are always located in the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague, and a complete list can be found on the Ministry for Foreign Affairs website.

Arriving in the Czech Republic The Czech Republic became a member of the EU in 2004. There are different rules for citizens of other EU member countries than for tourists from other parts of the world. Everyone must carry ID at all times.

Travel with animals In order to travel to the Czech Republic with an animal, all conditions set in the country from which the animal is being brought must be fulfilled, and further Czech rules must also be adhered to.

Customs quotas and regulations When bringing goods into the Czech Republic there are limits set on certain commodities. If a certain amount is exceeded, duty must be paid, and the importer is required to inform customs of the amount of the commodity he or she is bringing in to the country.

Public holidays Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays mean most banks and offices will be closed. Ordinary shops also close on Sundays and public holidays, while supermarkets and shopping centres often stay open. It's no problem on these days to visit a concert, exhibition, restaurant or bar.

Business hours In small towns most shops are open Mon - Fri, from 8 or 9am until 6pm, and only in the morning on Saturdays. In big cities shops may stay open until 9pm. Only a few small shops have a lunch break, usually between 12 and 1pm.

Language The only official language in the Czech Republic is Czech, which is spoken by 96 % of the population. However, have no fear, as especially in larger cities you can make yourself understood in English relatively easily.

Telephones The international dialing code for the Czech Republic is +420 (or 00 420). When calling from abroad this must be dialed first, followed by the 9-digit number.

Internet The Czech Republic enjoys good internet connections, so you will have few problems getting online. In recent years slow dial-up modems have been replaced by quicker broadband lines and Wi-Fi networks.

Postal services Postal services are officially provided by the Czech Post Office. It has exclusive right to operate the service for post up to 50 g in weight. Should you need to send anything heavier, you can choose from tens of Czech and international couriers operating in the Czech Republic.

Money The official currency used in the Czech Republic is the Czech crown which has the international abbreviation CZK. The Czech Republic has been a member of the EU since May 1 2004, but will only enter the Euro Zone around 2010.

Tipping Tips aren't usually left by guests on the table. Should you wish to tip staff, add around 10% onto the bill or round it up. It's up to you what sum you tell the waiter you wish to pay when he brings the bill.

Smoking The Czech Republic has adopted a law limiting smoking. One of the main points is a ban on smoking in public places (on platforms, at stops, at the railway station, on public transport and in places of entertainment).
